About this climb

Puig de Randa stands alone in the middle of the Mallorcan plain, with the Santuari de Cura at the top. The climb up from the road below measures about 5.7 km and gains 310 m, an average of 5.4 %.

It is short, but not uniform. The second and third kilometres are the steepest, close to 7 %, and the road then eases gradually as it winds up to the sanctuary at about 540 m.

Because it is short, the gap between efforts in the calculator is small. It is a good climb to try All out once you are warmed up, or to repeat at a Steady effort as training when the mountains in the north are under cloud.

The figures come from OpenStreetMap and the official Spanish terrain model, not yet from a ride by a local.

The steepest part comes early, in the second and third kilometres. Ease into it and save something for the last bends below the sanctuary.

The estimate uses your weight plus 8 kg for bike and kit, a share of your FTP (75 % easy, 85 % steady, 95 % all out) and an allowance for rolling resistance and air. Wind, heat and traffic are not included.
