About this climb

Sa Calobra is the climb most visiting cyclists want to time themselves on. From the foot of the road at Sa Calobra to the Coll dels Reis it measures about 9.7 km and gains 680 m, an average of 7 %.

What makes it a good benchmark is how steady it is. Every kilometre sits between about 5.5 and 9 %, with the steepest one at the very end, just below the Nus de sa Corbata. There is nowhere to hide and nowhere to recover, so the effort you choose at the bottom is the effort you hold to the top.

Use the calculator to pick a realistic target before you start. If this is your first long climb of the trip, choose Steady rather than All out: the hairpins in the middle feel much longer than they look on the map.

The figures come from OpenStreetMap and the official Spanish terrain model, not yet from a ride by a local.
