About this ride
Sa Calobra is the most famous climb in Mallorca, and it works backwards: you ride down to the sea first, then climb back up the same road. The Ma-2141 is a dead end at the port, so there is no other way out.
This route starts at Coll dels Reis, the top of the climb, and descends to the port at Sa Calobra. Just below the col you pass the Nus de sa Corbata, the “tie knot”, where the road loops under itself on a bridge. Below it, the hairpins drop all the way to the sea.
The climb back is 9.7 km at a 7 % average, with about 680 m of climbing from the port to the col at roughly 720 m. Every kilometre sits between about 5 and 8.5 %, with the steepest one near the top, so it rewards steady pacing. Pace it from the bottom: the top is a long way up.
Take the descent carefully. It is steep and twisting, and you will share the narrow road with other traffic. Fill your bottles and eat before you start climbing, and bring a layer for the way down.
