About this ride

The road from Sóller towards Puig Major, the highest mountain in Mallorca, is the longest climb on the island. This route rides it from the centre of Sóller to the mouth of the Monnàber tunnel and back down the same way.

The climb is about 15.4 km and gains a little over 800 m, from around 35 m in Sóller to about 850 m at the tunnel. The first two kilometres out of town are gentle. After that the Ma-10 settles into long stretches between 5 and 7 %, with a couple of easier kilometres in the middle where you can recover. The last three kilometres are among the steepest, so keep something back.

Because it is so long, pacing matters more than on any other climb in Mallorca. Start slower than you think you need to, eat early, and bring a layer: it can be much cooler at the top than in Sóller.

The descent is the same road in reverse, long and fast, with traffic in both directions. Take it calmly.
